The Coach has S-P-O-K-E-N !

Tournament Recap from Coach Rowan......

Overall I was very pleased with our performance. We showed great improvement over the last tournament, and even greater improvement with each game in this tournament.
1st game - 8am game after a 2.5 hour car ride at 5am, against the team that probably won the tournament. We lost, and didn't play to our potential.
2nd game - played much better. We made little mistakes at crucial times. Lost by 6.
3rd game - played against a team that beat us by 29 and 8 points 2 weeks ago in Ocala. We won by 6, but had the game well in control by 12 - 15 points the entire game. The guys couldn't have played a more perfect game.
Highlights - During our win, everyone made smart plays at the right time, and we played our style of basketball Syracuse's 2-3 Defense has nothing on the U-14 Nets.... If everyone continues to come to practice and play together, this team is going to be an exciting team to watch.

And an "Oh Yeah......."

I beleive that I sent 8 "Charge Cards" to Leesburg, and 8 came back???? What gives????

Practices for U14

You win some, you lose some, but the Lesson is what counts. Leesburg was a great experience- you know who is out there! Play with Intensity.

Coach Coop er is trying to get Wed at Wolfson (only the 12 & 14s can use Wolfson as their AD doesn’t want HS kids in the gym)

With that said this is what we're thinking;

Tues: No Practice
Wed: 6 – 8 pm U12 and U14
Trying to confirm use of Wolfson's Gym

Thur and Fri : Church gym is not available
I will try to coordinate a walk thru somewhere even if at an outside court

Saturday: Game at First Coast High School - 3pm against LHB

The Charge Card is Back!

Take a Charge, Win a Card!
We Love To See You Smile!
Charge:
Step 1 - Plant your feet shoulder-width apart and keep them planted.
Step 2 -Keep your arms at your side. If you stand with your elbows out to your sides, you're liable to have a blocking foul called against you.
Step 3 -Wait for the player to meet you.

Step 4 -Give the defender a chance to see you. Avoid blindsiding your opponent.

Step 5 -Stand your ground without leaning into the defender or throwing a hip.
Step 6 -Prepare for contact.

Step 7 -Absorb as much of the other player's momentum as possible.

Step 8 -Fall straight back on your bottom (Almost like sitting in a chair)
Coach Rowan assures you IT WILL NOT HURT!

Step 9 - Celebrate on the floor as an offensive foul is called. It only hurts when they call you for blocking.
This is Mrs. Rowan's favorite part of travel ball. Although she will not be there this weekend, she can't wait to hear who wins the Charge Cards!
Let Coach Rowan know if you would prefer other cards (Sonic, Zaxbys, etc.) and we can get those as well.
The referee must call the charge! It has to be documented! These will continue throughout the season as well as other fun contests and opportunities to win assist cards, shot cards, mvp cards, etc.
Remember:
Play with Intensity - NOT Fear!
(Check out the new games at the bottom!)

Practice Tuesday---

LUMC -

Travel for U14's - Eustis. Let Coach Rowan know if you need to ride (and stay) with him at practice on Tuesday.

We also need to get the size for your t-shirt and you can vote on what you want on the back at your practice Tuesday.

See you then!
